Laos President instructs govt to address high inflation, weak kip, rising costs


VIENTIANE: The head of state has instructed the government to ensure that steps are taken to rein in the high inflation rate and halt the continuing fall in the value of the kip, saying that effective changes must be made within one month.

The secretary-general of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee, and President of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith (pic) issued the order on the first day of a meeting of the government cabinet, provincial governors, and the Mayor of Vientiane, which is taking place from July 15-17.
