HYDERABAD, (India): (Bernama) Flight operations were unaffected after a fire broke out at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) on Thursday (April 9) evening.

The fire at Terminal 1 was "minor" and caused by an electrical short circuit, according to an airport statement.

"The fire was immediately brought under control by the emergency response teams within minutes. Airport operations remain unaffected," a spokesperson said.

The fire started in the trays of cables and panels that supply power, local media reported.

It was extinguished after three hours around 9.20pm and operations were briefly hit due to smoke engulfing the area.

Closed-circuit television cameras were affected and some aero bridges were shut as a precautionary measure, according to one report. - Bernama
