Brunei launches first special needs school; country to ensure children get education

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Xinhua): Brunei officially launched the first school for special needs students in the country, Brunei's official media has reported.

Brunei's Prince Abdul Mateen had officiated the opening of the Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam School and associated facilities.

The prince said at the ceremony that it is not just an organization or a building, it is a place where every child, regardless of their abilities, will have the opportunity to learn and grow, according to Pelita Brunei, an official media of Brunei.

"Through personalised learning programmes, specialised resources and a dedicated team of educators, the school is committed to ensuring each student receives the necessary support to succeed," said the Prince.

The school employs a holistic approach to education, offers rehabilitation services, and aims to create an empowering and nurturing environment where every individual can thrive, according to the reports.

Brunei is an oil-rich country located in the northern part of the Borneo island, with a population of 450,000 and a high level of social welfare.- Xinhua
