War against the scammers - Brunei cybersecurity agency takes down 1,023 phishing websites


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Xinhua): The Cyber Security Brunei (CSB) has successfully suspended or taken down 1,023 phishing websites, according to the Minister of Transport and Infocommunications of Brunei.

Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Dato Seri Setia Shamhary shared insights on the number of reported cybersecurity-related incidents in Brunei and the government's response strategies at a forum on Monday, according to the local media Biz Brunei.

The minister said that there have been a total of 957 incidents reported from the public since 2023, and a total of 1,023 phishing websites have been suspended or taken down by the respective domain registrar requested by Cyber Watch Center.

To date, 728 media items have been processed by the National Digital Forensics Laboratory, including 257 specialized services such as mobile, computer and video forensics, the minister added.

The CSB serves as an administrator that monitors and coordinates national efforts in addressing cybersecurity threats and cybercrime, including the Brunei Computer Emergency Response Team, Cyber Watch Centre, and the National Digital Forensic- Xinhua
