No ash clouds from Mount Ruang over Brunei airspace, says Met Dept

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): The Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) has confirmed that that ash clouds from the eruption of Mount Ruang in North Sulawesi, Indonesia, are no longer present in Brunei Darussalam’s airspace.

The eruption, which occurred at 9:45 pm on April 16, 2024, saw Mount Ruang, standing at 725 meters above sea level, emit ash clouds, impacting air quality and visibility in nearby areas.

According to the latest update from the Darwin Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre received at 1:30 pm on Friday, the ash clouds from the volcano are no longer observed over Brunei Darussalam’s airspace.

The BDMD assured that it would continue to provide updated information on the status of the Mount Ruang volcanic eruption received from the Darwin Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre, particularly if there are potential impacts on the country’s airspace. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
