BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Commuters travelling from Tutong to Brunei-Muara faced long traffic queues along the Muara–Tutong Highway on Saturday (Jan 10) morning after floodwaters slowed vehicles in the Kampong Keriam area.

Motorists reported significant delays as vehicles were forced to reduce speed while navigating waterlogged stretches of the highway.

One commuter travelling from Tutong to Bandar Seri Begawan said he was stuck in traffic for nearly two hours due to the congestion.

Prolonged heavy rain since January 8 has caused flooding in several areas across the country, affecting roads and low-lying locations.

Last night, a red weather advisory was issued for Belait and Tutong districts, as well as the western parts of Brunei-Muara District, warning of heavy rain and strong wind gusts.

Authorities have advised road users to exercise caution and to stay updated on the latest weather advisories. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
