Thailand reveals more on discovery of ancient alligator species


BANGKOK (The Nation/Asia News Network): Thailand has identified a new species of alligator that roamed the Earth over 230,000 years ago. The Natural Resources and Environment Ministry on Wednesday (Oct 18) confirmed that fossilised remains found in 2005 belong to an alligator species never before recorded in world history.

The new species of reptile has been called Alligator munensis, or the "Mun River Alligator".
