Johor polls: BN to hold meeting tomorrow to finalise candidates, says Zahid

PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will hold a meeting with Barisan Nasional component parties on Sunday (June 7) to finalise candidates for the Johor state polls.

"Tomorrow (June 7), I will have a meeting with the component parties to negotiate (on seats) particularly with MCA and MIC… for them to finalise their positions,” the Barisan Nasional chairman told reporters after the National TVET Day 2026 celebration here on Saturday (June 6).

The Deputy Prime Minister said the process has almost been completed for Umno.

“We hope to finalise everything fully next week, and we will make the announcement a week before nomination day," he said.

Ahmad Zahid reiterated that Barisan will contest all 56 state seats in Johor.

The Johor state assembly was dissolved on Monday (June 1), paving the way for the 16th state election.

The Election Commission (EC) will hold a special meeting on the 16th Johor State Election on June 12.
