The US Navy’s decision to keep its distance from last week’s PLA drills around Taiwan should not tempt Beijing to lower its guard against Washington’s escalating comprehensive deployment in the region, according to mainland experts.
The USS Nimitz aircraft carrier and other warships remained several hundred nautical miles off eastern Taiwan during the six-day drills, showing Washington so far was not ready for a fight with Beijing, they said.
