Monkeypox tests Philippines preparedness as it infects hundreds worldwide


MANILA (Philippine Daily Inquirer/Asia News Network): Monkeypox, a rare disease caused by the monkeypox virus, is not new as it has been known to be a type of viral infection common in West and Central Africa.

However, with the recent rise in cases reported in non-endemic countries—countries where the virus has not been detected before or was not constantly present—more questions have been raised about the disease.
