Report by Amnesty International say that planned gold mine worsens abuses in Indonesia's Papua

PAPUA (Indonesia).March 21 (dpa): Violence and other abuses by Indonesian security forces have been on the rise in a district in Papua province where the government is planning a huge gold mine, according to a report released by Amnesty International on Monday.

In the report, Amnesty documented a surge in violence in the past two years, as well as extrajudicial killings and restrictions on movement for indigenous Papuans in Intan Jaya, where the planned gold mine in the area known as Wabu Block is located.
