Brunei govt announces that 90 per cent of senior citizens have been vaccinated

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct 12 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Brunei Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Mohd Isham Jaafar said 90 per cent of senior citizens in the country have been vaccinated.

He said, “Ninety per cent of those who are 60 and above have been vaccinated, with only over 4,000 senior citizens left to be vaccinated.

“God willing if everything goes smoothly, we have been able to vaccinate most of the senior citizens in the country,” he said during a press conference yesterday.

Dr Mohd Isham also revealed that 2,208 individuals received the Covid-19 vaccine injection as of Oct 10, bringing the total number of individuals having received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to 330,410 or 72.8 per cent.

Meanwhile, 211,609 individuals or 46.7 per cent of the population have completed their vaccination schedule.

The public wishing to receive the first dose of the vaccine can visit the Indoor Stadium Vaccination Centre daily from 8am to 6pm.

The walk-in service is only available for Brunei and permanent residents.

On Sundays, the vaccination centre is only to companies on a scheduled basis for both locals and foreign workers. - Borneo Bulleton/ANN
