BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sept 12 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): No major restrictions have been implemented for Bruneians travelling to European countries, said Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Mohd Amin Liew.

The minister was responding to a question on whether local travellers might encounter tighter Covid-19 control measures as the Sultanate has been removed from the safe travel list due to an upsurge in community cases.

“The control measures for European Union (EU) countries are varied, depending on the country in question. It is up to them to decide whether or not to impose quarantine order on Bruneian travellers.”

He added, “It depends on what they make of our risk profile. If they deem appropriate to issue travellers from Brunei with quarantine orders, then the travellers need to respect them.

He also said, “Currently, there is no reason for Bruneians travelling to the United Kingdom (UK), to be quarantined, for example.

"There are a lot of students travelling there to continue their studies. What is normally asked of the students is to be swabbed 72 hours before departing Brunei and swabbed again on the second day after arriving in the UK.

“From there, students need to take the initiative of observing precautionary measures.”

The minister added, “As of now, there have been no major changes on the impact of people travelling from Brunei to the EU.” - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
