BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Deputy Minister of Finance and Alternate Governor for Brunei Darussalam at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Pengiran Datin Seri Paduka Zety Sufina Sani attended the 11th Annual Meeting of the AIIB Board of Governors held on Sept 28 to 29, 2026 in Doha, State of Qatar.
During the Governors’ Business Roundtable of the AIIB Annual Meeting, discussions were centred around scaling up the bank’s impact by deepening and broadening service for clients; and Enabling Innovation to enhance value throughout the Project Cycle.
In its statement, Brunei Darussalam supports AIIB’s ambition to scale up its impact while maintaining its strong financial position and lean business model.
Against growing global uncertainties, Brunei Darussalam looks forward to strengthening its partnership with AIIB and translating shared priorities into lasting benefits for the people and the region.
This year’s annual meeting under the theme ‘Tomorrow’s Infrastructure: Impact and Innovation’ marked the AIIB’s transition into the second decade of operations and provided members with an opportunity to discuss AIIB’s strategic direction including scaling up investment in sustainable infrastructure, crossborder connectivity, private capital mobilisation and digital transformation.
In her opening remarks, AIIB President Zou Jiayi set out the bank’s priorities for its next stage of growth, emphasising that infrastructure remains central to development, resilience and opportunity in an increasingly uncertain global environment.
Zou Jiayi emphasised cooperation and multilateralism in addressing infrastructure needs and advancing sustainable development across Asia and beyond.
Chair of the Board of Governors of the AIIB and Minister of Finance of Qatar Ali Ahmed al-Kuwairi delivering a keynote address at the opening ceremony, highlighted Qatar’s role as a founding member of the bank since 2015 and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to advancing multilateral cooperation.
The 12th AIIB Annual Meeting will be held on July 14 to 15, 2027, in Baku, Azerbaijan. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
