Brunei records 15th Covid-19 death

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/Asia News Network): A woman who gave birth to a baby boy, while receiving treatment at the National Isolation Centre (NIC), has passed away from a lung infection caused by Covid-19.

It was the 15th Covid-related casualty recorded in the sultanate.

The news was announced by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Mohd Isham Jaafar (pic) at a press conference on Thursday (Sept 9).

“Case 777 was a 29-year-old woman who suffered from lung infection after being infected with Covid-19. While undergoing treatment at the NIC, she gave birth via surgery on Aug 24.

“The case was later admitted to the intensive care unit at the NIC, as she required the assistance of an artificial ventilator and an additional heart-lung machine (ECMO).

“To protect and respect the privacy, as well as the confidentiality of the case’s family, the MoH will not share her personal details. The public is also requested to show respect, and not to disseminate information relating to the case.

“On behalf of the MoH, as well as the people of Brunei Darussalam, I wish to convey my deepest condolences to her family.”
