HANOI, April 11 (Xinhua): Vietnam recorded only one new Covid-19 case on Sunday, raising the total confirmed cases in the country to 2,693, according to the country's Ministry of Health.
The new case is a 27-year-old Vietnamese citizen who recently entered the country from abroad and was quarantined upon arrival, said the ministry.
As many as 2,429 patients have been given the all-clear, the ministry said, adding that over 37,900 people are being quarantined and monitored.
The economic situation is also looking rosier for the country.
Vietnam raked in nearly US$7.2 billion from exporting textile and garment in the first quarter of this year, up 1.1 per cent against the same period last year, according to the country's General Statistics Office on Friday.
In March alone, Vietnam's textile and garment export rose 15.3 percent year-on-year to around US$2.7 billion.
Most of the local garment enterprises have received sustained new orders, including several future ones until August, according to the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association.
The recovery of global demand following the rollout of Covid-19 vaccines around the world is expected to bring more positive impacts to the market, said the association.
In 2020, Vietnam recorded an export turnover of roughly US$29.5 billion from textile and garment products, down 10.2 per cent from 2019, according to the statistics office. Its largest export markets included China, Japan, the European Union, South Korea and the United States. - Xinhua
