Woman dies in hospital after being airlifted from Hong Kong hiking trail where she collapsed


HONG KONG, Feb 4 (SCMP): A hiker died in hospital on Thursday (Feb 4) after being airlifted from a Hong Kong country park where she had been trekking.

The middle-aged woman and a female friend were hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park when the incident happened at around 9.42am.

Emergency personnel were called in after a man found the woman collapsed near the hilltop of Tai Cham Koi, according to a police spokeswoman.

She said a Government Flying Service helicopter was deployed to the scene and airlifted the unconscious woman to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in Chai Wan, where she died soon after 11am.

Police are investigating the incident.
