Laos suspends international charter flights from Covid-19-hit countries

VIENTIANE, Nov 28 (Xinhua): The Laos government has released an update on Covid-19 prevention measures, noting that international charter flights from countries that are experiencing an outbreak must be suspended.

According to a notice published by Lao Prime Minister's Office on Thursday, effective from Thursday to Dec 31, entry visas will not be issued to visitors who come from countries that remain affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.

The Lao government urged authorities countrywide to strictly monitor people entering the country to prevent a second wave of Covid-19.

The Laos Ministry of Health on Monday reported 14 new confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country, bringing the total infections to 39.

The 14 cases include one Lao citizen and 13 foreigners, who returned from India and Russia.

They arrived in Laos capital Vientiane last Friday (Nov 27).

As of Friday night, Laos has tested 77,747 suspected cases with 39 cases tested positive, and 24 patients have recovered.
