Brunei: No new Covid-19 cases for 15 consecutive days; more than 500kg collected at clean-up event

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sept 19 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Brunei reported no new cases of Covid-19 on Friday night (Sept 19) with the national tally of cases standing at 145.

It marked the 15th consecutive day without new cases since Sept. 3.

According to Brunei's Ministry of Health, no more recoveries were recorded, maintaining the total number of recovered cases at 141. There is still one active case being treated at the National Isolation Center.

Meanwhile, currently there are 441 individuals who are undergoing mandatory isolation at the monitoring centers provided by the government, who have arrived in the country after travelling abroad.

There have been three deaths that resulted from Covid-19 in Brunei.

Over 120 Progresif staff collected 507 kilogrammes of trash at Pantai Tanjung Batu, Muara in conjunction with International Coastal Clean-up Day.

The clean-up was in support of one of Progresif’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitments, ‘Progress for the Environment’. Staff members collected 137 bags of trash ranging from plastic waste to discarded baby diapers.

Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation Acting Director Martinah binti Haji Tamit said it was, “a commendable initiative to foster a sense of shared responsibility towards a clean and safe environment”.

Progresif CEO Hajah Nurul Haniah binti Haji Mohd Jaafar in a speech said, “Progresif has always been committed to pursuing progress for the environment, and what better way to contribute than to clean up our beautiful coastline in solidarity with likeminded individuals doing the same thing across the world.”
