4,061 people being isolated amid Covid-19 concerns in Laos


VIENTIANE, July 6 (Xinhua): Laos health official on Monday announced it has been monitoring 4,061 people across the country.

Director General of the Communicable Disease Control under Laos Ministry of Health, Rattanaxay Phetsavanh, told a press conference in Laos capital Vientiane on Monday that 4,061 people have been quarantined at 88 accommodation centres across the country.

The Laos government continues to implement preventive measures and carefully monitor people entering Laos especially returning workers. People entering Laos will be sent to quarantine centers for 14 days to prevent the spread of the virus.

On Sunday, a total of 1,756 people entering Laos though international border checkpoint. Of these, 896 people crossed the border with Thailand, 260 of them were Lao returning workers.

A total of 111 people entered Laos from China, while 694 people entered Laos from Vietnam, and one person entered Laos from Cambodia. A total of 54 people entered Laos via Wattay international airport.

The temperature of each person entering Laos was checked and no one showed signs of fever, according to the report.

Laos announced its first two Covid-19 confirmed cases on March 24, and the last patient was discharged on June 9. - Xinhua
