If you're in the market for a new phone and are worried that you'll crack the screen or drop it, you many want to consider insuring it.
Technology solutions company Ingram Micro is offering a plan called Cover Plus - Essential, that covers new phones from damage but not from theft or loss.
The plan includes five categories, for phones valued between RM1,000 and RM3,500 while the annual fee ranges from RM179 to RM339.
David Fike, president of general insurance at Zurich Insurance Malaysia, said, “Zurich recognises the need to provide protection for mobile devices, which is now considered the most omnipresent (widespread) communication tool in staying connected with family, friends and business associates.”
In addition, Ingram Micro said the coverage includes a three-month extension of the manufacturer’s warranty.
The plan also includes a download code for a Mobile Security Application by Trend Micro to protect against all manner of Internet threats including viruses and spyware, fake apps and Facebook identity theft.
Ingram Micro Cover Plus - Essential offers repairs and replacement of mobile phones.
According to Michael Archdeacon, managing director of Ingram Micro’s mobile division in Malaysia, the plan offers free pick up of the damaged mobile device at your doorstep.
It also offers free delivery of repaired or replaced mobile devices with a seven day turnaround time for repairs and two days for phone replacements.
Customers interested in the Ingram Micro Cover Plus - Essential can sign up for it, only when they purchase a new mobile device through about 100 Ingram Micro-affiliated dealers in the Klang Valley and Seremban. Phones offered include the latest iPhone, Samsung and Blackberry models.
Ingram Micro adds that it plans to include more dealers throughout Malaysia in the coming months.
The insurance offering, available from Dec 1 onwards, is underwritten by Zurich Insurance Malaysia Sdn Bhd.For more information on the features and coverage conditions visit www.ingrammicrocoverplus.com.my.
