PETALING JAYA: Parliament has clarified that the menu card with the spelling error “scissors salad” was replaced before Monday’s dinner.
In a statement released by its Corporate Communications Division Wednesday, it said that the menu card was prepared by the caterer and not by Parliament.
“The spelling mistake was, however, detected before the dinner and was replaced with a new card with the correct spelling.
“Parliament hopes the issue will not be prolonged in order to protect the identity and image of the country’s legislative body,” it said.
The statement also said that Parliament regretted the act of irresponsible quarters in circulating the image of the menu with the spelling error on social media.
The image went viral on WhatsApp and other messaging media this week.
Monday's dinner was between Parliament officers and Speaker of the House Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia.
