PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the murder of deputy public prosecutor Kevin Morais.

City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said the unemployed man was picked up at Kulim in Kedah at about 5pm on Wednesday.

SAC Zainuddin said that the man has been remanded for seven days.

He added that police also urged anyone with information on an accident at Jalan Duta Mas near here on Sept 4 at about 7.51am that was believed to have connection to the abduction of Morais to come forward.

“Anyone with information especially the driver or passengers in the white Toyota Estima that stopped and saw the incident as seen in the CCTV footage should come forward,” said SAC Zainuddin.

He added that the public could call any police station or the KL police hotline at 03-2115999.

On Wednesday, Morais' body was discovered cemented in an oil drum, which was dumped into the swampy area in Subang Jaya near here.

Earlier, a 52-year-old army doctor was one of seven people including two women and a child detained over the abduction and murder of Morais.

Four of the seven were remanded by police while one of them had led police to the location of the body.

Morais went missing after leaving his residence in Menara Duta here for work in Putrajaya on Sept 4 in a grey Proton Perdana bearing the registration plate WA6264Q.
