Ready to roll: Sultan Ibrahim getting on his Harley Davidson Street Glide during the flagging off ceremony of the 18th Kembara Mahkota Johor at Laman DiRaja Pontian.

PONTIAN: The Johor Ruler and the royal family will be travelling 858km across 10 districts in the state for this year’s 18th edition of the Kembara Mahkota Johor.

Among the districts to be visited by Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar are Batu Pahat, Muar, Ledang, Segamat, Kluang, Mersing, Kota Tinggi, Kulai and Johor Baru.

Sultan Ibrahim will be riding his Harley-Davidson Street Glide and drive a bus in the later stages of Kembara Mahkota, which kicked off yesterday.

Among those taking part this year are Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah, Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail and his wife Che’Puan Khaleeda Bustamam.

Flagging off the entourage, Mentri Besar Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the event was a special programme for the Sultan.

“This is because it allows the bond between the rakyat and the palace to grow stronger,” he said in his speech during the ceremony at Laman di-Raja Pontian here.
