South Indian stars light up the night

KUALA LUMPUR: It was a night of glitz and glamour at the South Indian International Movie Awards (Siima) when south Indian stars descended here for the award ceremony.

Siima, in its third year, was held over two days at Stadium Negara for the first time.

Over 90 awards were given during the show, where Malayalam and Telugu stars were honoured on Friday.

Yesterday, Tamil and Kannada movie actors were presented with awards for their achievements in the entertainment industry.

Singer and musician Anirudh was presented with the Best Music Director award in Tamil, beating fellow nominee Oscar-winner A.R. Rahman.

Heartthrob Sivakarthkeyan accepted the award on his friend’s behalf and entertained the crowd.

Veteran star K. Bhagyaraj received the Lifetime Achievement Award from his friends and colleagues – actors Karthik, Chiranjeevi and Radhika, who regaled fans with anecdotes about the multi-talented actor and director.

South Indian film fans here were enamoured by the presence of celebrities such as Tamanna, Kushboo, Amala Paul, Silambarasan and Trisha.

The event was organised by Siima and supported by Malaysia Major Events (MME).
