KUALA LUMPUR: Tow truck driver Koong Swee Kwan, accused of murdering banker Hussain Ahmad Najadi and attempting to kill his wife, has been instructed to enter his defence.

High Court Justice Mohd Azman Husin made the order yesterday after he ruled that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against the 45-year-old.

The judge had earlier heard submissions from deputy public prosecutor Wan Shahruddin Wan Ladin and Koong’s counsel, Zamri Idrus.

Seventeen prosecution witnesses testified at the trial, which ran for five days.

Koong was charged with killing the 75-year-old Arab-Malaysia Development Bank founder and attempting to murder Cheong Mei Kuen, 45, at the Kuan Yin temple car park in Lorong Ceylon here at between 1.30pm and 2pm on July 29 last year.

Justice Mohd Azman fixed three days from Aug 19 for the accused to enter his defence.
