JOHOR BARU: Former Argentinian international Pablo Aimar has signed a five-year contract with Malaysian Super League side Johor Darul Takzim FC.

Aimar, who has played for top European clubs such as Valencia, Real Zaragoza and Benfica, and also represented Argentina at the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups, said that the footballing project offered by Johor FA was too hard to turn down.

"I want to be involved with football, not only playing but also to give back to the community, especially children," he said during a press conference held at Larkin Stadium on Saturday.

Meanwhile Johor FA president Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim said it was an honour to have Aimar here playing in Malaysia.

"He will also be part of the youth academy," he said.
