KUALA LUMPUR: The 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) has successfully mediated in the dispute over the Restaurant Imbi Palace, which currently sits on its land.
The restaurant, located in an area earmarked for the proposed Kuala Lumpur International Financial District, which the firm oversees, was partially demolised last Saturday, and certain quarters alleged that 1MDB was responsible.
In a statement Saturday, 1MDB clarified that the incident was due to a dispute between the lessee and sub-lessees on vacating the premises.
It said that a win-win solution was reached between the lesse and four sub-lessees after three days of talks.
"All parties expressed regret for injuring the reputation of 1MDB as a result of the April 14 incident because 1MDB was not involved in any way in the partial demolition of the restaurant," said 1MDB.
It reiterated that it did not contract or authorise any party to demolish the restaurant.
The company also said that it had lodged a police report on the incident
"1MDB will not hesitate to take legal action against parties making unfounded allegations on the matter," it said. BERNAMA
