Old pipes leaking millions in non-revenue water


PETALING JAYA: The country's water industry is losing millions in revenue every year due to insufficient funding to replace ageing pipe networks, some of which were laid about 60 years ago.

Poor construction and maintenance of some of the networks had resulted in increased leakages, causing an estimated RM1.7bil loss in non-revenue water (NRW) in 2010, said the National Water Services Commission (SPAN).
