Robber loses right hand as victim fights back

A ROBBER, believed to be from Myanmar, lost his right hand during a burglary attempt when the victim slashed him with a parang at Taman Sikamat Utama Seremban, reported Sinar Harian.

The suspect and three other individuals had broken into a house of a couple – also Myanmars – in the 3.30am incident on Saturday.

Seremban OCPD Asst Comm Muhammad Zaki Hamzah said, based on initial investigations, authorities found that the robbers tried to enter the house through a window from the kitchen while the couple was fast asleep.

“The couple woke up when the robbers broke into their room. The suspects began attacking the victim, Mohd Rofik Eran Ali, 42, and assaulted him repeatedly.

“The victim fought back and managed to grab a parang which was hidden under his wardrobe,” he said.

According to ACP Muhammad Zaki, the victim slashed one of the suspects severing his right hand. The others escaped using the front door.

The incident took place about 5.20pm. The victim, known as Emalin Al, was found in a pool of blood inside her room and was confirmed dead by doctors at the Duchess of Kent Hospital.

It is understood that the 27-year-old woman was angry with the victim’s family members as they had kept calling her an immigrant.

Before attacking the victim, the woman had asked her to stop calling her names.

Sandakan police chief Asst Comm Zabidi Md Zain said the woman was being detained.

“Based on initial investigations, we found that she wanted to take revenge as the victim’s family kept teasing her,” he said.
