In a post on its blog, WhatsApp has announced that messages can now be kept pinned in a chat indefinitely. The limit had previously been only up to 30 days.

To permanently pin a message, users can select the "Always" option when pinning a message.

The blog post says the change comes alongside other features intended to help users catch up on messages or discussions if they got busy and lost track of things.

This includes the ability to send the recent message history of a group to new members to keep them in the loop by simply tapping on the user's name. Previously, the feature needed to be toggled before the new member was added to a group.

Members of WhatsApp groups can also now share status updates directly within the group, similar to regular profile status posts. These updates will remain visible for 24 hours before automatically disappearing.

The messaging app has also introduced a new message filtering option in groups that allows users to filter conversations based on direct replies and mentions.
