WhatsApp users enrolled in the beta programme may have noticed that they are now able to schedule messages up to two weeks in advance.

While the messaging app has not made any official announcement, leaker website WABetaInfo reports that it is currently being rolled out, with the feature being spotted in beta version 2.26.40.7.

In tests by StarLifestyle, the feature appears to be available to users on both mobile devices and desktop, so long as they are enrolled in the beta programme on the Google Play Store. The beta version tested was 2.26.41.9.

Those with access to the feature will be able to schedule messages to both one-on-one and group chats by long-pressing the send button. After that, they will be shown a menu where they can scroll through the date and time options to schedule the message.

Meanwhile, users on the desktop app will have a clock icon next to the send button. When the icon is clicked, it opens up the message scheduling menu. Users should note that the button will only be shown after a message is typed out.

Each message must be scheduled at least 10 minutes in advance, with users able to delete scheduled messages before they are sent by tapping on the group or individual user's name at the top of the chat screen and selecting the "Scheduled messages" option in the menu.

Those looking to get early access to the feature can enrol in the beta programme by navigating to the WhatsApp page on the Google Play Store and requesting to join the testing programme.

WABetaInfo previously reported sightings of the feature on iOS devices enrolled in the TestFlight beta programme back in February.
