An upcoming game from Malaysian developer Metronomik, Ondeh Ondeh Kaya's Tasty Tale, was among the titles announced at the latest Nintendo Direct presentation on Sept 9.
The 3D adventure platformer features Kaya on her quest to become a WorldBuilder in the magical world of Selera.
"Solve puzzles, unlock new abilities and wield Kaya’s Spoon as you battle whimsical foes, explore regions inspired by the rich cultures of Southeast Asia, meet new friends and uncover hidden surprises," Nintendo said in an announcement on its website.
On X, Metronomik co-founder Wan Hazmer Wan Abdul Halim said it was surreal to see the game featured on Nintendo Direct.
"I couldn’t be prouder of our team & partners. Their endless dedication and creative brilliance in bringing our culture to life is truly inspiring. Showing this (reveal trailer) & seeing your comments online mean the world to me," he added.
The company also announced Bandai Namco Entertainment Asia as the publishing partner for the game in a separate post on X.
Ondeh Ondeh Kaya's Tasty Tale is set to launch in 2027 on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam.
Metronomik was founded in Kuala Lumpur in 2017, and the company released its debut title No Straight Roads in 2020. The sequel, No Straight Roads 2 with publisher Shueisha Games, is set for release this year.
