WhatsApp Web users can now make both voice and video calls directly from their browser. Previously, users had to use the desktop application to access the feature.
The new feature supports both one-on-one and group calls, while providing access to existing features such as screen sharing, emoji reactions, and a dedicated Calls tab that displays call history and favourite contacts.
Users can also transfer active group calls between devices without leaving or ending the call.
Other call-related features include a waiting room that allows hosts to approve or reject waiting participants before they join, faster HD video call quality, and noise suppression for clearer voice calls.
WhatsApp says the features are currently rolling out to all users.
The messaging app previously added the ability to edit PDF files directly in the app and read messages aloud for users who are driving.
