Samsung has increased the prices of its Galaxy A07 and Galaxy A17 smartphone models, citing rising component costs.
"The revision reflects the continued increase in global component costs, particularly for memory chips and RAM, driven by growing demand from AI infrastructure and data centre expansion," it says in a statement today (July 27).
As the components are essential for a wide range of consumer devices, the company says the cost has increased in recent quarters.
"Despite ongoing efforts to absorb these rising costs and minimise the impact on consumers, the current market environment has made a price revision necessary," it added in the statement.
The Galaxy A07 5G is now priced at RM1,149, up RM120 from its original price of RM1,029, while the Galaxy A07 LTE now costs RM1,049, an increase of RM150 from RM899 previously.
The Galaxy A17 5G is now priced at RM1,299, up RM150 from its original price of RM1,149.
The Galaxy A17 LTE is now available for RM1,149, up RM200 from its original price of RM949.
All models come with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage space.
The Galaxy A17 was first released in September last year, while the A07 5G was launched locally in January.
