KUALA LUMPUR: Electronics giant Samsung unveiled its 2026 artificial intelligence (AI)-powered lineup of 4K smart TVs at a media event today (May 18).

At the top of the range sits the Micro RGB series. As the name suggests, it utilises micro RGB technology that Samsung says allows for more natural colours, richer detail and more precise light control.

Where AI steps in is the Vision AI Companion (VAC), a suite of features aimed squarely at improving the content consumption experience. Something the company was eager to highlight was that each TV was capable of detecting when a football match was shown on-screen with its AI Soccer mode.

The AI Soccer mode would then automatically adjust the visuals of a match in real-time, enhancing contrast, boosting colour saturation, and smoothing the ball's movement to allow for easier tracking by viewers.

This further extended to the audio of a match, with AI Soccer mode automatically boosting the surrounding crowd environment for a more immersive experience.

Other AI-enhancements include an upscaler for lower resolution content, automatic enhancements to other types of on-screen content, along with the ability to ask questions to Bixby or Perplexity AI at the press of a button. Support for Google Gemini is slated to hit in early June via a software update.

Four models under the Micro RGB series are available in Malaysia, ranging from 75in to 85in in size and priced from RM14,999 to RM29,999.

Meanwhile, the more gaming-ready series of Samsung OLED TVs comes with support for both AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync technologies, unlike the other models, which only support FreeSync.

These technologies are meant to synchronise a display's refresh rate with the output from a computer or gaming console to reduce screen tearing, stuttering and input lag during gameplay for a smoother and more responsive gaming experience.

The OLED series features five models ranging from 65in to 83in and priced between RM12,999 and RM27,599.

All the new TVs also come with the same set of AI functionalities offered by VAC.

Also shown off at the event were Samsung's Odyssey gaming monitor lineup featuring on-the-fly refresh rate and resolution switching, priced from RM4,599, and Samsung Music Studio speakers priced from RM1,199.
