The Xiaomi 17 Series is now available for pre-order in Malaysia, with the smartphone company continuing its collaboration with German camera-maker Leica.

First in the lineup is the Xiaomi 17, with a triple camera setup equipped with a 50-megapixel main shooter, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera. It also has a 50-megapixel hole-punch selfie camera.

On the front is a 6.3in OLED display with a 2656 x 1220 resolution, and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, with the choice between either 256GB or 512GB storage variants. Both storage configurations come with 12GB RAM.

Powering the device is a 6,330mAh battery that supports up to 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. It can also charge other compatible devices at up to 22.5W over a wired connection.

The top-of-the-line Xiaomi 17 UItra, on the other hand,  has a larger 2608 x 1200 resolution display, measuring 6.9in with a refresh of up to 120Hz. Like the Xiaomi 17, the Ultra's triple camera system is also designed by Leica.

The setup is comprised of a 50-megapixel main camera, a 200-megapixel telephoto sensor, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens. There's also a 50-megapixel hole-punch selfie camera.

It also comes with the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor as the standard Xiaomi 17 does, with the choice between 512GB or 1TB internal storage. Both options come with 16GB RAM.

The battery on the Ultra model is slightly smaller, coming in at 6,000mAh with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging, respectively. Like its little brother, it can also charge other devices through its 22.5W wired reverse charging.

Other features on both devices include an under-screen fingerprint sensor, Dolby Atmos, and an IP68 water and dust resistance rating. This is on top of a Xiaomi HyperAI, a suite of artificial intelligence (AI) tools that cover writing assist, speed recognition, search, language interpretation, and more.

The Xiaomi 17 is priced at RM3,499 for the 256GB storage model and RM3,799 for the 512GB variant. It comes in Alpine Pink, Ice Blue, Venture Green, and Black colour options.

For the higher-end Ultra model, pricing is set at RM5,499 (512GB) and RM5,999 (1TB), with the choice between White, Black, and Starlit Green for the device's colour.

Pre-orders will be open until March 5, with customers eligible for freebies including a photography kit and a wireless speaker with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and a Smart Tower Fan 2 and wireless speaker with the Xiaomi 17.

Those pre-ordering the 256GB Xiaomi 17 will also get RM200 off as part of the early bird promo during the pre-order period.
