CelcomDigi today (Oct 28) launched a new eSIM-only telco brand called Spark, offering digital activation, subscription, and account management via mobile app.

The newly unveiled brand currently offers three monthly mobile plans: Mini (with 3GB of 4G data) for RM15 a month, Standard (with 40GB of 5G/4G data) for RM25 a month, and Plus (with 200GB of 5G/4G data) for RM65 a month.

Both the Standard and Plus plans include 100 minutes of voice calls, while the Mini plan does not come with any. None of the plans include SMS, though add-ons for data, voice calls and SMS are available from RM1.

Spark is also offering an RM5 discount for the first 12 months to customers who sign up before December 31 this year, with the promo code SPARK5, which can be entered during registration.

Customers will be able to manage up to five active Spark phone lines in the app under a single account.

According to the Spark FAQ page, the telco brand does not yet support the porting-in of existing phone numbers. Smartwatches are not supported by the digital telco as of time of writing.

Spark appears to be the successor to CelcomDigi's previous digital telco brand, Yoodo, which was discontinued last August. At the time, Yoodo customers were able to maintain their lines and continue using their existing subscriptions.

Moving forward, Yoodo customers will be automatically migrated to Spark, with their existing plan, balances, credits, and points transferred over. It is worth noting that all points will expire after December 31 this year.

The old Yoodo app pages on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store have also been repurposed for the Spark app, so Yoodo customers will only need to update the existing app to check their account details.
