Google has announced support for the Touch 'n Go (TNG) eWallet and ShopeePay for online transactions with certain merchants in Malaysia.

Users can now perform payments at checkout using their ewallet balance, provided they are dealing with a supported merchant that uses iPay88 or Fiuu at their payment gateway provider.

It is worth noting that adding either the TNG eWallet or ShopeePay will not allow users to use them for in-person payments in the Google Wallet app, instead only functioning as a way to make online transactions faster and more convenient with supported merchants.

Users can add their TNG eWallet or ShopeePay as a payment method under Google Pay during checkout with a supported merchant.Users can add their TNG eWallet or ShopeePay as a payment method under Google Pay during checkout with a supported merchant.

Currently, this includes Nando’s and US Pizza under Fiuu, and Alpro Pharmacy, TK Bakery and Yoyo Bus from iPay88. A Google representative has said to stay tuned for further updates to the merchant list.

Users can add their TNG eWallet or ShopeePay as a payment method under Google Pay during checkout with a supported merchant, after which they will be prompted to perform a one-time verification in the respective ewallet app.

This verification only needs to be done the first time a user is making a payment. Once done, users will then be able to make one-click payments via Google Pay in the Google Chrome app, without switching to the separate ewallet app.

This will also enable users to reload their ewallet balance via Google Pay. Additionally, Google has announced that a future update will allow users to check their ewallet balance directly within Google Pay.

Google further says that this ewallet integration into Google Pay is the first of its kind in South-East Asia.
