BERLIN: Microsoft has revised the lock screen in Windows 10 and 11 with a recent update that adds widgets, providing information about various things including the weather, the stock market and sports.

However, not everyone loves the change. What is particularly annoying for many users is that the widgets can't currently be customised. The new widgets are based on the MSN info cards and are preconfigured.

Microsoft has announced that personalisation will be possible in the future, but hasn't given a date for this.

If you don't want the new widgets, you can deactivate them. Go to Settings > Personalisation > Lock screen > Lock screen status and then select "None" from the dropdown menu. This will give you back the familiar lock screen without annoying widgets. – dpa
