An Australian YouTuber has caused a stir online after he posted a video claiming that he managed to sneak into a hotel in Singapore and stay in a room without paying.

On Feb 2, the YouTuber, going by the handle Pete Z, uploaded the video “I Stole a $100,000 Luxury Vacation” in which he recorded himself using the pool and dining at a restaurant while pretending to be a hotel guest at Marina Bay Sands. When converted from Singaporean currency, the amount equals RM353,660.

Pete also claimed to have been able to sleep in a room for one night after using a key card that he found.

"I lived for free in the world's richest country... you did your best, Singapore," he said in the video's description.

Marina Bay Sands, however, said in a statement to the website Mothership that Pete was a "legitimate hotel guest" who paid for his stay.

The website said the hotel showed records of Pete's stay dated Jan 11 and that he had dined at one of its restaurants on the same day.

The hotel also pointed out that, as a hotel guest, Pete had access to the areas shown in the video, which he claimed he had to sneak in by tailgating a guest or waiting for staff to leave.

The video, with over 100,000 views, drew comments from users accusing him of dishonesty, with some reporting the video as misleading.

In a separate video titled 'I Went Undercover To Get a FREE Vacation' uploaded on Feb 4, Pete claimed that he was able to sneak into a club in Singapore by telling security guards that he was "Justin Bieber's cousin" or "Taylor Swift's accountant".

The club, Zouk Singapore, told Mothership that Pete was at the ticketing counter and had paid to purchase his entry.

Pete has refuted the media reports, telling users in the comments section that "it's all a cover-up because I actually did it".
