The Malaysia Computer Emergency Response Team (MyCert) is warning members of the public about scammers claiming to be employees from “Axiata Digital Labs International” in a WhatsApp job scam.

Based on screenshots of conversations posted by MyCert, the scammers would text individuals via WhatsApp with an offer to join a lucrative project.

They claimed that the individuals have been selected by the company’s human resources department and payment will be given upon completion.

MyCert said while Axiata Digital Labs is a technology hub under Axiata Group, the company has confirmed that no such project is being offered to the public.

On its official website, the company also issued a public notice about scammers falsely offering opportunities using their corporate identity.

MyCert said that the impact on victims due the scam include disclosure of banking information, name, address and phone numbers to third parties or attackers. They could also experience potential financial loss.
