Apple has announced a price hike in battery replacements for iPhone generations before the iPhone 14 starting from March 1 this year.

The change will add an extra US$20 (RM88) to out-of-warranty battery services on top of the existing charges.

For models like the iPhone SE, iPhone 8 and older, the estimated total cost rises from US$49 (RM215) to US$69 (RM305), while the new total cost for the iPhone X to iPhone 13 will go up from US$69 (RM305) to US$89 (RM390).

The fees remain the same at US$99 (RM435) for an iPhone 14 battery replacement.

“The current out-of-warranty battery service fee will apply until the end of February 2023.

“Effective March 1, 2023, the out-of-warranty battery service fee will be increased by US$20 (RM88) for all iPhone models prior to iPhone 14,” wrote the company on its battery replacement page.

It’s currently unknown how this will affect local iPhone users, since after-sales service is usually handled by authorised Apple resellers rather than Apple itself in the country.
