BERLIN: Not everyone is into bright colours, and sometimes darker shades are just easier on the eyes.
That's often true when it comes to your computer setup. If you use Windows 10 or 11 as your operating system – Windows 7 users, you will be looking in vain – check out Dark Mode to dial down your screen brightness.
The feature allows you to switch the design of the start menu and built-in apps to black and grey tones. Not only do many people find this more agreeable to look at, it can also help to save a little energy.
Head to Settings and select Personalization. Here, click on Colours, and you can choose between Light and Dark in the drop-down menu. In Windows 10, you'll be asked to "Choose your colour", while Windows 11 users will find the option to "Change mode".
There are also a couple of other options to customize your screen's colour scheme further, for example picking a different accent colour that will highlight icons, tiles and other elements.
Keep in mind that switching to Dark Mode will also affect other applications like Slack, for example, which will then also automatically be displayed in black. However, you can change that in the app's settings menu. – dpa
