Popular game ‘Among Us’ temporarily free for PCs

The popular paranoia-encouraging multiplayer game Among Us is temporarily free for PCs through the Epic Games Store.

The game, by American game studio Innersloth, puts users in the role of astronauts that have to perform various tasks while trying to discover the alien imposter among them, before the imposter kills everyone else.

The promo is part of Epic Game’s Mega Sale until June 3. It usually costs RM12.50.

Though released in 2018, the game rose to popularity during the pandemic, with market measuring firm Neilsen estimating about half a billion people playing it last November, making it the most popular mobile game ever in terms of monthly users.

The mobile version of the game is available for free with in-app purchases on Android and iOS, while the Epic Store sells a version for Windows and MacOS.

Innersloth also announced it would be coming to consoles including Sony PlayStation and Microsoft's Xbox later this year.
