Digi updates its postpaid mobile plans to offer more savings

Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Digi) has updated its lineup of postpaid mobile plans for easier Internet use, removing quota partitions and avoiding speed caps.

The new lineup consists of five postpaid plans with pricing matching its name: Postpaid 40 (RM40), Postpaid 60 (RM60), Postpaid 90 (RM90), Postpaid 120 (RM120) and Postpaid 150 (RM150).

The plans come with the following monthly data caps: 10GB, 25GB, 50GB, 65GB and 85GB, respectively. All plans also come with unlimited calls to all networks.

In a press release, Digi stated that the new plans were meant to help Malaysians stretch their Ringgit during the pandemic by offering discounts on Family Lines and free add-ons including rebates on Google Play and Apple App Store purchases, extra Internet quota, and mobile broadband.

Customers can add up to six Family Lines, with a 50% discount for each line, subject to the principal plan’s eligibility. For example, a supplementary Postpaid 60 line would instead cost RM30.

Family Lines include Postpaid 40 (RM20), Postpaid 60 (RM30), and Postpaid 90 (RM45). There is also a Gadget SIM plan at RM10 a month, which has no data allocation, instead receiving data through quota sharing.

According to the FAQ, the monthly Internet quota allocation is shareable from principal to all Postpaid Family, Mobile Broadband and Gadget SIM supplementary lines in the same family group.

The Family Lines that users can subscribe to also depend on the primary line’s package, where the Family Line must be an equal or cheaper line than the primary.

Digi chief marketing officer Praveen Rajan said the upgraded Digi Postpaid proposition comes at a relevant time, with more everyday life activities carried out online due to Covid-19.

He added that the portfolio also supports Digi’s efforts to connect more Malaysian households to fibre broadband, providing additional savings when combined with a Digi Fibre plan under one account.

The fibre discount depends on the primary line’s package, and is paid out as a 24 month rebate when users sign up for Digi Fibre broadband. The discount is RM15 a month for Postpaid 60 users and up to RM30 a month for users with a Postpaid 90 plan, or higher.
