‘I’m slipping’: rescuers search for missing Mount Fuji climber whose accident was caught on livestream footage


Fears are growing for a climber in Japan who went missing after he slipped during his ascent of Mount Fuji. Emergency services were alerted to the accident by a viewer who was watching the climber’s live-stream on a local website. — SCMP

Rescuers are scouring the flanks of Japan’s Mount Fuji after a climber livestreamed an accident that may have resulted in his death.

Helicopters and ground personnel from the Yamanashi Prefecture disaster prevention unit have been searching for the man, who has not been named, since Monday afternoon and hopes that he will be found alive are fading.
