HBO streaming service HBO Go will be available in Malaysia next month.
HBO Asia announced through a press statement that the streaming service will be launched exclusively on Astro in May and is available for free for Astro Movies Pack subscribers. Users will be able to access HBO through the HBO Go and Astro Go apps, and the Astro set top box.
Users will get access to HBO's complete library of original content like movies, series and documentaries. New shows on HBO Go will premiere at the same time as the US and users can also tune in to behind the scenes featurettes and trailers.
Astro director of content Agnes Rozario said the company is excited about the launch of HBO Go in Malaysia.
“We’re thrilled about expanding our exclusive partnership with HBO who has brought us the most watched show on the planet, Game Of Thrones, and a string of hits and talked about originals, like Big Little Lies and Westworld, in addition to Hollywood blockbusters.”
She believes that HBO Go will be great addition for Astro Movies Pack subscribers. An Astro subscription with the Movies Pack starts from RM71.95 a month, according to a listing on the company website.
“Astro Movies Pack customers currently enjoy HBO and Max channels as well HBO Originals on demand. Being amongst the earliest supporters of Astro, HBO content has helped drive engagement for on demand viewing amongst our connected customers. The latest collaboration further enables Astro to unlock thousands of assets comprising both Hollywood movies and HBO Originals from around the world across all Astro platforms and soon on HBO Go,” Rozario added.
The HBO Go app will be available at launch on App Store or Google Play. On computers, users will be able to access HBO Go on their web browsers via www.hbogoasia.com. HBO Go supports Airplay and Chromecast functionalities.
