Interested users can visit Celcom Bluecube outlets nationwide to subscribe for an eSIM. — Celcom
Yet another Malaysian telco is offering support for eSIM, with Celcom announcing today that it is now providing the service to the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max that come equipped with eSIMs. According to Celcom's Facebook page, no timeline has been set on when eSIM support will come to Android devices.
For the unfamiliar, embedded SIM cards (or eSIMs) are SIM cards that are built into users' smartphones or smart devices. Smartphones that support eSIM no longer need a regular SIM card from a telco in order to get service, making it theoretically simpler to get connected while travelling, swap between different telcos using the same device, and even to transfer a line from one device to another.
