Samsung launched its mid-range smartphones, the Galaxy A50 and A30, which boast flagship features such as on-screen fingerprint sensor, nearly bezeless screen and multiple cameras.

The Galaxy A50, which goes for RM1,199, has triple cameras on the back – a 25-megapixel main sensor, an 8-megapixel sensor with ultra-wide lens and a 5-megapixel depth sensor.

The A30, which retails for RM799, features dual rear cameras – a 16-megapixel main sensor and a 5-megapixel depth sensor.

Both have a selfie camera – 25-megapixel on the A50 and 16-megapixel on the A30 – with a 123° ultra-wide lens.

The Galaxy A50 has an on-screen fingerprint while the A30 comes with a rear fingerprint sensor and face unlock.

Samsung Malaysia Electronics president Yoonsoo Kim said the new models are meant to provide young consumers the essential features for capturing and sharing life moments, without compromising quality.

“We have taken into consideration how their lifestyle and mobile usage behavior have progressed, going further than merely pretty selfies, enhanced gaming or on-demand video,” he said, at the Era of Live launch party in The W Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

Both smartphones have a sleek and curved design, a large 6.4in Super Amoled Infinity-U display with a teardrop notch, and a 4,000mAh battery capable of fast charging.

The Galaxy A50 has 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, while the A30 has 4GB RAM and 64GB storage – both have a microSD card slot for adding up to 512GB more space.

Both the models will come in three colours – Black, White and Blue.

Following the theme Era of Live, Samsung Malaysia is collaborating with Media Prima to make a localised version of E! News called E! Media Prima Television Networks.

Singer-songwriter Calum Scott, who shot to fame in the 2015 season of Britain’s Got Talent, also performed during the launch, and met up with fans during a meet and greet section.

Samsung also engaged a team of young ambassadors, dubbed the A-Squad, which features local personalities like teenage pop-star Ismail Izzani, actress Nabila Razali and singer Haqiem Rusli.
